Darshan Fan Murder Case: Another Kannada actor’s name has now been linked to the Renukaswamy murder case. As per a new development, Kannada actor Chikkanna has been summoned by the Bengaluru Police officers for questioning. It is reported that Chikkanna is being considered as a witness in the case as he was reportedly with Darshana when the victim was being brought into the city.
According to a PTI report, Police questioned Chikkanna on Monday for an hour. It is reported that police proposed making Chikkanna as a witness in the case. It is claimed that Chikkanna was with Darshan on June 8, when the crime was taking place.
India Today reported Chikkanna was with Darshan at a pub. The report added that Darshan and Chikanna were allegedly partying when the victim was being brought to the shed. It is believed that Darshan was with Chikkanna while the victim was being transported. The actor then allegedly visited the shed where Renukaswamy was held hostage and being tortured. After locking up the victim, the accused reportedly returned to the club to complete his plan.
The news publication reported that the Police team investigating the case will take Darshan and Chikkanna to the private club to recreate the crime scene as part of their investigation.
So far, 19 arrests have been made in the case.
For the unversed, Darshan and his girlfriend Pavithra Gowda were taken into custody on charges of murdering Renukaswamy (33), a resident of Chitradurga. Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and a few of his associates have been arrested for the murder of Renuka Swamy.
Renukaswamy was found dead at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. He used to reportedly work at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. Previously, police officials claimed that Renuka used to send vulgar messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowad, a friend of Darshan. Angry about this, Renuka Swamy was murdered and his dead body was allegedly thrown in a canal at Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru in front of Darshan. Reportedly, eight of the accused have implicated Darshan, claiming his presence during Renuka Swamy’s assault.
