Filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2. The teaser of the film was released recently and has created quite a buzz. Recently, the filmmaker appeared on a podcast and said that the film is not controversial. He also opened up about his research process.
Speaking on the Dostcast podcast, Dibakar said, “It’s not very edgy or bold; there’s no Hindu-Muslim stuff, I’m not bashing Pakistan. Nor am I bashing India.” He also said that while directing the film, he was nearly pushed to the verge of quitting filmmaking altogether. “But I am too addicted, I am an addict,” he said.
Dibakar also opened up about his research process for the film and said, “One cool thing about the internet is that you can start in one place, and end up in an entirely different place altogether. You begin to understand the algorithm. The algorithm wants to understand your fetish, what your darkest secrets are, and what kind of faces are you drawn to. Do you like Africans, Hispanics, Asians, or Indians? The algorithm knows. It’ll keep showing you blue-eyed girls if that’s what you’re into.”
“Gradually, over time, I fooled my algorithm. Maine usse yeh jata diya ke main Hindu rashtravaadi right-winger hoon (I convinced it that I am a right-wing Hindu nationalist). And now I know everything that’s going on that side. The most dangerous people are the fence-sitters, they’re just waiting to pounce on people,” he said.
The cast of the film includes newcomers Paritosh Tiwari, Abhinav Singh, and Bonita Rajpurohit, alongside Swastika Mukherjee, Tusshar Kapoor, Mouni Roy, Anu Malik and Uorfi Javed. It will be released in theatres on April 19. It revolves around the theme of love in the age of the internet and the complexities of relationships in the high-tech era.
