Hailie Jade Scott, the daughter of legendary rapper Eminem, recently revealed the clever plan she used to hide her pregnancy during her wedding, all thanks to her best friend, Brittany Ednie. In a surprise twist, Eminem unveiled the news of Hailie’s impending motherhood in his latest music video, announcing that she and her husband, Evan McClintock, are expecting their first child. Following this exciting revelation, Hailie opened up about her journey on her podcast, Just A Little Shady, where she and Brittany shared the heartwarming details of how her loyal friend helped keep her pregnancy under wraps during the ceremony.
Hailie Jade began the October 4 episode by addressing the big news, saying, “You may or may not be tuning in because you could have heard the news that I’m pregnant. Yay! We finally shared it. It’s such a relief to finally say."
During the episode, the mom-to-be also teased Brittany for drunkenly talking about her fear of The Joker for “30 minutes" at her wedding in May. Brittany jumped in to defend herself, saying, “I need to also defend myself now that this is public knowledge, that you are pregnant because, at said wedding, people did not know that she was pregnant."
“So she was, you know, grabbing a drink, not consuming the drink as a responsible parent does," Brittany explained further. “Whenever people were turned around, she would hand me her drink, and I would chug so it looked as if she was continuously drinking throughout that night," she added.
“Brittany was taking one for the team," Hailie Jade added, though she clarified, “Well, then I’ll defend myself, though, because I never really asked you to do it. It was like an unspoken thing with our eyes."
In the emotional music video for his song, Temporary, released on Thursday, Eminem shared old home videos of Hailie Jade. Towards the end, there’s a heartwarming moment where Hailie Jade reveals to her father that she’s expecting a baby. In the video, she hands her dad a blue football jersey that reads “Grandpa" with the number 1, along with a sonogram image.
Eminem’s reaction is priceless as his jaw drops and his eyes well up with tears upon hearing the news.
