Sunny Deol is set to portray Tara Singh for the third time in the next instalment of the Gadar franchise. In a recent interaction, the director of the movies, Anil Sharma, has provided a major update on the project, calling it an “atom bomb of emotions”.
In a conversation with IANS, the director revealed that they started the work on Gadar 3 and confirmed Sunny Deol’s return as Tara Singh. He stated, “We have started working on Gadar 3. When everything related to the film is done, then we will share, there is still some time.” He added that Gadar 2 took 20 years to happen.
According to Anil, he wants the next part to have a bigger and better emotional aspect than the earlier releases. He stated, “Gadar 3′ will come when the script is complete and I think it’s not just a bomb of emotions but an atom bomb of emotions.” Speaking further, he continued, “I believe the stories should be in continuation. I want the continuation of the story.”
The first installment, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha was released in 2001 and went on to become a Bollywood classic. Starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel as the leads, the film portrays a tragic love story between an Indian truck driver Tara Singh and a Pakistani girl named Sakeena (played by Ameesha).
While Gadar 2 was released in 2023 and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprised their respective role along with Utkarsh Sharm, who appeared as their son. They were supported by Gaurav Chopra, Manish Wadhwa, Manoj Bakshi and Manish Wadhwa. It is produced by Anil Sharma and Kamal Mukut under the banners of Zee Studios, Anil Sharma Productions and MM Movies. The music is done by Mithoon while the cinematographer is Najeeb Khan. And the editors are Ashfaque Makrani and Sanjay Sankla. The film collected over Rs 600 crore at the box office.
