A true music enthusiast never begs to differ that Ilaiyaraaja is one of the greatest music composers of India. He is regarded as one of the most prolific composers with a career spanning over 48 years. Ilaiyaraaja has composed over 7,000 songs and provided film scores for over 1,000 films. He has performed in over 20,000 concerts till now. The musician was given the title of Maestro by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London. Touched by the love of his fans in the recent concert, the composer announced that his music tour would be held in all towns of Tamil Nadu.
Ilaiyaraaja organised a concert recently in the town of Kumbakonam of Thanjavur district. This Tamil music composer usually organises his concerts outside India, capital and major cities only. For a change, Ilaiyaraaja decided to hold the programme in the small town of Tamil Nadu for the first time on September 14.
The concert, which was held at a private college, was interrupted by rain before it started. As the show started late, the fans enjoyed Ilaiyaraaja’s music concert in the rain. The videos of the concert went viral on social media. Fans said that watching Ilaiyaraaja’s concert in the pouring rain was a pleasant moment for them.
Touched by the love of his fans, Ilaiyaraaja has announced that the music tour will be held in all the towns of Tamil Nadu. He also posted a video of the fans enjoying the concert in the pouring rain. The music composer announced his music tour on his official account on the social media platform X.
“People of Kumbakonam who came to enjoy my concert in heavy rain, your support is unforgettable. Thank you! From now on my musical journey will be held not only in the capital but in all the towns of Tamil Nadu” wrote Ilaiyaraaja.

Ilaiyaraaja holds the record for the first Indian composer to record a soundtrack with a computer for the 1986 Kamal Haasan-starrer, Vikram. He also composed Thiruvasagam in Symphony (2006), the first Indian oratorio.
