Actor-filmmaker Guruprasad’s upcoming project Ranganayaka, featuring Jaggesh, was announced a few years back. Fans of Kannada cinema are eagerly awaiting the resurgence of their collaboration, especially after successful films like Mata and Edelu Manjunatha. The film is reportedly a political satire, set in ancient times; but its storyline has been kept a secret. Recently, a song titled Gaali Tangaali was released from Ranganayaka. It features music by Anoop Seelin and vocals by Muniraju. Jaggesh and the team put in dedicated performances for this song. The line “Shruthi sari sari khamho" at the beginning may lead to a dialogue between Bigg Boss fame Shruthi P and Jaggesh. The question arises about the necessity of this inclusion in the film.
After a fifteen-year gap since Edelu Manjunatha, Guruprasad and Jaggesh are set to reunite for Ranganayaka, breaking new ground for Jaggesh. The movie, set during the Vijayanagara dynasty, is scheduled for release on March 8. Despite the historical theme, Guruprasad’s lighthearted approach is expected to make it suitable for the present era. The director aims to reveal a fresh side of Jaggesh after over three decades in the industry, portraying a unique perspective through this project.
Jaggesh is optimistic about Ranganayaka, using comedy as a powerful tool to engage and entertain audiences. Drawing parallels to the viral success of sequences from Mata and Edelu Manjunatha, he believes the film will generate 100–150 hilarious clips that people will enthusiastically share, contributing to its popularity.
Ranganayaka marks Jaggesh’s comeback to the big screen after the setback of his two-part film Thotapuri. With Anoop Seelin composing the soundtrack and Samrat Ashok Gautam handling the photography, the film also introduces Rachita Mahalakshmi, known for her role as Meenatchi in the Tamil serial Saravanan Meenatchi, to Kannada cinema in her debut
