Jyothika Gets Brutally Trolled For Saying She Votes 'Online In Private', Netizens Call It 'Shameful'
Jyothika was recently speaking to the media in Chennai when she said, “I vote every year.”

Jyothika has left netizens disappointed, upset and furious. Recently, the actress was speaking to the media in Chennai when she was asked about not voting in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections. However, Jyothika’s response landed her in trouble.

What Did Jyothika Say About Voting During Elections?

It all started after a reporter asked Jyothika the reason for not voting in elections. To this, the actress said, “I vote every year.” She was corrected and informed that voting does not take place every year. Following this, Jyothika argued that she votes “online in private” and left everyone baffled.

“At times we can be outstation, we can be sick, it’s a private thing. Sometimes privately also we vote, we might do it online, not everything is publicised. There is a private side to life and we need to respect that and give that space,” she said. Watch her video here:

Netizens Furious With Jyothika’s ‘Votes In Private’ Comment

Soon after the video of the incident went viral on social media, several social media users reacted to it and reminded Jyothika that one has to visit polling booths to cast his/her vote. “This is shameful,” one of the users wrote. “This is the very reason why actors should not advise people and people should not expect advice from actors. Let them just do their job for the movie industry and leave their private life and social message to themselves,” added another.

One of the users dropped a sarcastic comment and wrote, “Hi @ECISVEEP @TNelectionsCEO. How can you give special privilege to @Jyothika_offl to “vote online privately” and why we don’t have that option? Please explain…”

An X user schooled Jyothika and wrote, “One more thing, election dates are announced beforehand, so as responsible citizens we should keep ourselves free during that date at least. Jyotika madam shouldn’t complain later is hospitals are dirty but the temple is clean.”
