The wait for the release of magnum opus Kalki 2898 AD will finally come to an end tomorrow, on June 27. The pan-India film, directed by Nag Aswhin, has a stellar star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Prabhas in lead roles. Its trailer has already amped up fans’ excitement. Amid all this, Kalki 2898 AD’s theme song was dropped recently. The vibrant and devotional song is an ode to Lord Krishna. The track is sung by Kaala Bhairava, Ananthu, Gowtham Bharadwaj. Its chorus and music is given by Santhosh Narayanan.
The theme song speaks about the anticipation of Kalki or Lord Krishna’s incarnation in Kali Yuga. The lyrical video of the song also contains some glimpses from the film. The soulful lyrics and symphony adds to the song’s appeal. The use of Indian instruments such as Veena, alongside electronic items further adds to the track’s heavenly aura. Oscar winning music composer Chandrabose has penned the lyrics for the song. Kalki 2898 AD’s theme song has gone viral as soon as it was released. Fans are going gaga over this masterpiece.
Over 2.1 lakh tickets were reportedly sold with a revenue of Rs 6.25 crore within 24 hours, as of June 24. In North America, over 1,13,000 tickets were sold and a collection of USD 3 million was made on day one. Kalki 2898 AD has recorded an impressive non-theatrical business, even before its release. The film has reportedly grossed Rs 375 crore by selling its rights to multiple OTT platforms.
News18 recently spoke to trade analyst Girish Johar. Talking about Kalki 2898 AD’s box office predictions, he said, “Based on what we’re witnessing down south, the first day numbers are going to be humongous. Prabhas has a huge fan following overseas as well where his films do well. On the whole, in all languages, I’m pretty confident it is set for a fantastic start with Rs 100 crore gross on day one for all languages."
