Whenever Micheal Keaton appears on the big screen, the audience is assured that the film will be an edge-of-the-seat watch. The Golden Globe Award winner has now taken over the director’s chair for his upcoming film Knox Goes Away. Apart from directing the project, he will also step into the shoes of the titular character John Knox in the thriller drama. The trailer of Knox Goes Away was dropped by the makers on February 13, sparking intrigue among movie enthusiasts. Besides Michael Keaton, the film boasts a cast ensemble of Al Pacino, James Marsden, and Marcia Gay Harden. Knox Goes Away will premiere theatrically on March 15.
Michael Keaton will be slipping into the shoes of hitman John Knox in the film. “I’ve been doing this job a long time," he says in the trailer. In one of the missions, Knox finds himself losing control and getting dizzy as guns go blaring all around him. Soon, it is revealed that he has been diagnosed with “a very rare form of dementia" with the doctor declaring that he has only a few weeks left. But when one night Knox’s estranged son turns up at his door confessing that the police are behind him for murdering a person who tried to hurt his daughter, Knox is forced to gather his hitman instincts and tactics, presumably for the last time.
Aided by his trusted friend (Al Pacino), John Knox races against the cops and fights with his rapidly deteriorating state of mind to save his son from the vengeful crime he committed. However, Knox needs to be fast, take up weapons again, and “cast out" before it is too late. Going by the trailer, Knox Goes Away seems to be infused with umpteen action sequences, gunfights, grim visuals, and suspenseful glimpses that promise a nail-biting ride of adrenaline and adventure, coupled with a looming uncertainty of what the future holds.
Scriptwriter Gregory Poirier who worked on the 2007 film National Treasure: Book of Secrets will be penning the script of Knox Goes Away too. The film is produced under the banners of Saban Films. This movie marks Michael Keaton’s second directorial, the first being the 2008 crime thriller The Merry Gentleman. The actor is presently geared up for the release of the horror-comedy Beetlejuice 2 on September 6.
