Mumbai: After running successfully at several festivals, the world's first open captioned movie 'The Silent Heroes' is now ready for theatrical release on December 11.
The movie is based on the story of 13 real deaf children who, through mountaineering, want to prove that they are differently abled and not disabled.
Being an open captioned movie, those with hearing impairment will be able to watch the movie 'first day first show'.
Explaining further about this format, director Mahesh Bhatt told IANS, "Open captioning is a movie with subtitles visible on the screen. Open captions contain readable text on the movie screen that include descriptors of dialogue, sound effects and music for the audience with the problem of impaired hearing".
Explaining about the title of the film, Bhatt, who believes that society has been insensitive towards people with special needs, said: "I wanted to show people that they are not helpless or a burden on us. Being silent is not impairment for them and they are still heroes, which encouraged me to name the film 'The Silent Heroes'."
Maanuv Bharadwaj, the creative producer of the film, also acted in the movie as the lead actor.
Along with Maanuv, Priyanka Panchal, Mann Bagga, Pankaj Uniyal, Simran Deep, Nirmal Kumar Pant and others featured in the movie. The film is being produced by Kamal Birani and journalist-turned-filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and presented by Hans Productions and Reality Films
'The Silent Heroes', an adventure-thriller, has got a U Certificate from the Censor Board.
