The film’s triumph can be credited to its captivating storyline and the outstanding performances delivered by the cast.
Rahul Sadasivan’s third feature film has garnered acclaim for its skilful intertwining of caste, feudalism, bodily possession and witchcraft, as well as for casting the esteemed Mammootty in a malevolent role. However, it’s the haunting black-and-white cinematography that has particularly captured attention.
Mammootty takes on the role of the lead character, Kodumon Potti, whose original name was altered by the directive of the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala, acknowledging the current era of turmoil and sensitive sentiments. Arjun Ashokan portrays Thevan, a Paanan (court singer), while Sidharth Bharathan plays the role of the cook in Potti’s household.
