Meryl Streep To Return For Fourth Season Of Only Murders In The Building
The three main stars and executive producers, Martin Short (Oliver), Steve Martin (Charles Haden-Savage), and Selena Gomez (Mabel Mora), are also expected to return.

Meryl Streep is set to return for the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building, reprising her role as Broadway star Loretta Durkin. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed this news on Thursday, highlighting Streep’s return to the hit Hulu series. 20th Television president Karey Burke mentioned on THR’s TV’s Top 5 podcast, airing Friday, that Streep is returning for the next season because she had a tremendous time. “In season 3, which came to a dramatic conclusion in October 2023, fans got to know Loretta as she developed a romance with Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and received an offer to work in Los Angeles,” Burke said.

In February, Deadline announced that Molly Shannon, a Saturday Night Live alum, would be joining the cast for the new season. Shannon will portray the character of a businesswoman pulled into the world of investigation in NY. Although Jesse Williams, who appeared in season 3, has not been confirmed to return, co-creator John Hoffman expressed hope to see him and Streep again.

Apart from Streep, Jane Lynch’s character, Sazz Pataki may also reappear through flashbacks after her character was murdered in the season 3 finale. As per THR, Sazz’s death is likely to be a major plot point for the upcoming season as Mabel, Charles, and Oliver search for answers.

The idea of what is created is thought by Hoffman to be something that is put out to the world, and sometimes the repercussions of what potentially the world does with the thing, and how they feel about it, cannot be prepared for, as told by Hoffman to the publication.

According to Deadline, the show will film in Los Angeles briefly before returning to its central location at The Arconia in New York City. A release date for season 4 has not been announced.

“The L.A. touchstone was intentional and how we might be able to see that I don’t know yet, but there might be a way that would be exciting. I don’t have a plan yet though,” Hoffman told TheWrap in October, adding that Mabel, Charles and Oliver await a “very new situation” in season 4.

The first three seasons of the show are available to watch on Hulu.
