Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown recently hit the headlines with her secret wedding with the man of her dreams, Jake Bongiovi. The couple got married in Tuscany, Italy and dropped their love-filled pictures on their social media handles on October 2. Now, we have stumbled upon an interesting fact about the couple’s big day. We got to know who was the officiator of their marriage and it is none other than Millie’s Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine.
Back in May 2024, Matthew revealed that he got the opportunity to officiate Milli’s wedding with Jake Bongiovi in a secret ceremony in Italy. In an interview with Access Daily, the actor expressed his gratitude to Millie and Jake for letting him be the officiator. “I have one of those licences to get people married,” he said.
Matthew added that he wrote the vows for the young couple. Talking about how he was encouraged to do so by the lovebirds, the Cutthroat Island fame star mentioned, “Millie thought it’d be great, and then Jake said it would be a great idea, so I wrote the wedding vows. They loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife. It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony.”
Neither cast nor the streaming platform have yet released the official return date of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. The series is expected to return on Netflix in 2025. Although in the series Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven and Matthew Modine’s Dr. Brenner have a complicated relationship, they share an unbreakable friendship in real life. Proof of the same was found in one of Matthew’s recent posts on Instagram. On September 30, he dropped a closeup of his hand flaunting his silver hair and a friendship bracelet reading “Papa”, which was adorned with beads. Further tagging both Millie and Jake, Matthew thanked them and penned a meaningful quote about friendship.
“#friendshipbracelets thank you @milliebobbybrown @jakebongiovi #friendsforever. People who deserve friendship are people who show reason to be loved. They’re a rare breed, but then everything remarkable is rare; the hardest thing to find is a perfect specimen of its type. Most people don’t see the good in a relationship, unless it is profitable, they pick friends the same way they pick cattle – fostering the ones they think will bring the greatest return on investment,” read his caption.
He added, “As a result, they miss out on the beautiful and natural friendship that is sought in and for itself. They have no experience of the extraordinary power of this type of friendship. For each person loves himself, not in order to make some profit from his affection, but because he is dear to himself on his own. Unless the same feeling is transferred to friendship, we will never find a true friend. For a friend is, in effect, another self.”—#cicero #cicerone #stoic #stoicphilosophy.”
