Running Away From Family To Bollywood, Shehnaaz Gill's Unconventional Path To Glory

In the vast landscape of the Indian film industry, numerous stories unfold about actors and actresses who embark on challenging journeys to pursue their passion for acting. Among them is the rising star Shehnaaz Gill, a name that consistently graces headlines for her ventures and film projects. Despite facing obstacles in her career, Shehnaaz emerged as a successful entertainer.

Her narrative reflects a common theme in the industry, where individuals leave their homes to chase their dreams. Shehnaaz took this bold step at the age of 22, leaving her home with a vow to return only as a successful woman. During this period, she even blocked the contact numbers of her family members. In an interview, she expressed, “My dreams are my own and I will do whatever it takes to realize them. I ran away from home. They couldn’t locate me. I returned only when I became famous.”

During her initial struggle, Shehnaaz lived in a paying guest accommodation and earned around Rs 15,000. Despite the challenges, she remained focused on her passion for acting, regularly attending shoots. She recalled how she blocked her family’s contact numbers, including her grandmother’s, emphasising her determination to prove herself before reconnecting with them. “Patience pays off. And now, they’re all proud of me,” she added.

Shehnaaz Gill’s journey began with music videos, including Shiv Di Kitaab, Majhe Di Jatti and Pindaan Diyan Kudiyaan. In 2017, she marked her official acting debut with the Punjabi film Sat Shri Akal England. However, her breakthrough moment came in 2019 when she participated in the immensely popular reality TV show Bigg Boss 13, securing the third position. The show catapulted her into the limelight, significantly boosting her career.

In 2023, Shehnaaz made her official Bollywood debut with the film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The movie, directed by Farhad Samji, features Salman Khan in the lead role, alongside Pooja Hegde and Venkatesh in pivotal roles. Released on April 21, 2023, the film marked a significant milestone in Shehnaaz’s journey from struggle to stardom.
