The trailer launch of the upcoming docu series Angry Young Men was a starry affair. The docu series revolves around the life of legendary writing-pair Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. This three-part series aims to showcase Salim-Javed’s compelling screenplays which transformed Hindi film in the 1970s. The launch event was attended by both Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan’s families. Now, one of the videos that is doing the rounds on social media captures Salman’s unique way of calling his family to stage and we can’t help but laugh out louder.
In the clip, Salman could be heard saying, “Javed Akhtar ka production toh dekh liya, ab Salim Khan ka production bhi dekh lijiye (You saw Javed Akhtar’s production, now also see Salim Khan’s production)." He then went on to call his brothers Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and other members of his family to stage.

Meanwhile, Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar shared the stage with Javed Akhtar as Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan came in to be by their father’s side. Apart from them, even Salim Khan’s daughter Arpita Khan was seen with her daughter Ayat. On the other hand, Sohail’s son Nirvaan Khan and Arbaaz’s son Arhaan Khan were also present.
The trailer began with celebrities discussing their experiences and memories with the dynamic duo. It includes insights from the veteran pair, demonstrating how their work in blockbusters such as Sholay, Deewaar and Don captivated a generation and had a long-lasting cultural impact. The documentary attempts to provide viewers with a genuine and honest look into their lives, writing and legacy. The trailer also has numerous celebrity anecdotes. It features stars like Shabana Azmi, Zoya Akhtar, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shatrughan Sinha, Jaya Bachchan, Honey Irani, Karan Johar and others sharing about how the duo worked.
Speaking about the legendary duo and their contribution to cinema, Salman Khan stated, “Growing up, seeing my father and Javed Sahab work together on films was nothing short of magical. Their love for cinema redefined heroism for an entire generation, leaving behind a legacy of cult classics. Personally, I would love to see them working together in the future, I hope the fans and viewers can also agree," as quoted by Amazon. He further added that Angry Young Men is a tribute to their creative talent and deep influence on Indian cinema. Moreover, this series is meaningful to both families and he hopes that this will start a new chapter for the pair.
Salman Khan Films, Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby are co- producing Angry Young Men with Salman Khan, Salma Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The docu series is directed by Namrata Rao and slated to begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on August 20.
