Shah Rukh Khan was recently also honoured at the Locarno Film Festival with its Honorary Leopard Achievement Award.

Shah Rukh Khan has called himself ‘shameless’ for receiving awards. In a recent interview, the Bollywood superstar admitted he ‘loves’ getting awards. He revealed that he has around 300 awards and has a room in his house dedicated to these honours.

SRK was speaking to The Guardian when he was asked if he has a special cabinet for his awards. To this, the actor said, “I do. It’s bigger than this room! I have 300 awards. I have a nine-storey office and on every floor I have some of the awards. Actually, it’s not a trophy room. It’s a library which is designed like an English library.”

King Khan further admitted that he enjoys award ceremonies and added, “I enjoy it. I am very shameless about this. I love getting awards. I love the ceremony. I get a little nervous if I have to give speeches.”

However, Shah Rukh also mentioned that he gets ‘nervous’ while receiving awards because he has to deliver gratitude speeches. “Especially with international awards, because then I need to make sure Indian cinema is presented well. I have to be on my best behaviour. I have to control my sense of humour. Because cinema for India is such an important thing,” she stated.

Interestingly, this comes days after Shah Rukh Khan was honoured at the Locarno Film Festival with its Honorary Leopard Achievement Award. Besides his multiple awards for his films and acting projects, SRK also has Padma Shri from the Government of India. He also received the French government’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007 and the Légion d’honneur in 2014.

Meanwhile, on the work front, SRK will soon be seen in King, which will reportedly also star his daughter Suhana Khan and Munjya star Abhay Verma. At the Locarno Film Festival, Shah Rukh Khan also opened up about King for the first time and said, “It is an action drama, it’s a Hindi film. It’ll be interesting. I’ve been wanting to do a film like that for some time, and I really wanted to do a film like this for seven, eight years. We just felt Sujoy would be the right choice, because we wanted it to be very emotionally correct. We are all coming together to make a cool, massy, action, emotional film.”
