Sharvari Wagh BREAKS Silence On Vedaa's Poor Box Office Collection: 'It's Only My Third Film, I'm Still...'
Sharvari Wagh said she put all her heart into John Abraham, Abhishek Banerjee starrer Vedaa.

John Abraham made a comeback as a full-fledged hero in the film Vedaa, alongside Sharvari Wagh. However, the Nikkhil Advani directorial venture didn’t perform well at the box office. The film was released on August 15 and faced stiff competition from Shraddha Kapoor starrer juggernaut, Stree 2. Vedaa also clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and this three-way box office battle proved detrimental for the film. The film managed to earn Rs 19.25 crore till now. Sharvari Wagh has now reacted to the film’s performance.

“Honestly, there are two different ways of looking at this. For me, I think in Vedaa, my heart was in the role and the performance of it. I really feel that the film had its heart in the right place. Now business decisions, whether things work or not are beyond me because this is only my third film in theatres. So, that is something I am still learning, and I am still a student of understanding how this translates and what is the right thing in terms of business,” she told the Hindustan Times.

She added, “I think this role was very difficult, and challenging and very out of my comfort zone. So, when I got audience love for it, I was satisfied because I took a little leap of faith in my performance. It could have gone a hundred other ways. For it to have gone in the right way for me is a big win. I haven’t done drama, which is also very difficult, and this was a big success for me.”

Actor Abhishek Banerjee, who plays the antagonist in the film, exclusively spoke to News18 about Vedaa’s box office numbers. Abhishek also plays Jana in Stree 2, which is proving to be a runway hit this year. “As an actor, it’s a bittersweet experience. Nikkhil Advani has directed a beautiful film. I saw 60 per cent occupancy for Vedaa in metro cities. I don’t know about the rest. I saw people clapping during the climax. The problem is that Stree is a juggernaut. Since it is also a sequel, the audience is already in sync with the characters. Nobody imagined Stree to be such a big monster. I knew it would be a monster but not that it would become Godzilla,” Abhishek said.
