One person who has managed to sway the audience time and again with his brilliant comic timing is Deepak Dobriyal. Playing the role of Pappi ji in this film, he has not only been applauded for his performance but has left an indelible mark on the hearts of thousands of viewers. While the lead actors Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan did a fantabulous job, he managed to dig a special place as Pappi Ji in the minds of movie buffs. He has been a part of films like ‘Omkara’ and ‘Mumbai Cutting’ but it was ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ that brought him to the forefront. Not only has he endowed us with dialogues like ‘Your question hurt me..’ to ‘His humour is running..’ but he made sure to deliver them in just-the-right way!

Zoya Akhtar’s dysfunctional family saga ‘Dil Dhakadne Do’ will be remembered not only because Anil Kapoor played the role of an old father was the first time but because Shefali Shah enacted so well that her character Neelam Mehra became too-real-to-forget for the viewers. Her heart wrenching performance explored the depth of her character, the complexes and the layers. From deriding her husband’s exuberance to her self-absorbing breakdown in front of the mirror, she managed to steal the limelight with every scene.

If you’ve watched ‘Masaan’, truly one of the best films 2015 has gifted us, you’ll know why this girl is irreplaceable in the storyline. Catch a glimpse of her in the song ‘Tu kisi rail si guzarti hai..’ and you’ll understand why no other actor could have done what she did in the film. Such innocence, such elan and such perfection; she’s indeed a power-packed performer. This film might have been a little low on budget, but it surpassed a lot of big banner films with its exceptional story line and a sublime star cast.

Nobody can underestimate the power of a proficient cast when a film like ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ received accolades not only for the leads but also for the supporting actors in superlative numbers. From his unique accent to his flawless timing, Chintu from this film was simply impeccable. Essaying the role of a boisterous tenant, even his introduction (hasrat-e-lucknow, basrat-e-kanpur, surmayi hai bareilly aur katilana Rampur) was a hit amongst the audience.

Moushumi Chatterjee in 'Piku'

‘Piku’ was much more than just a slice-of-life revolving around Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan. From the servant to Choobi Maashi, every character was just bang on. Moushumi Chatterjee, who was paired with Big B after 36 years has worked with him in films including ‘Manzil’ and ‘Benaam’. Portraying the character of Amitabh Bachchan’s sister-in-law, she ended up evoking laughter every time they came on the screen engaging in light-hearted banters. She indeed made a live-wire comeback with this spunky aunt’s role.
