Kamal Haasan is one of the legendary actors in Indian cinema with several iconic hits like Thevar Magan, Hey Ram, etc. He currently captured the headlines for his much-anticipated film Indian 2, directed by S Shankar. Ahead of the film’s release on June 12, Kamal participated in an exclusive interview with the Pinkvilla. The veteran actor talked about several aspects, including why he turned down the offer to play the role of antagonist Pakshi Rajan in Shankar’s 2.0. To this, the 69-year-old actor laughingly said, “I told him (Shankar) that I want to be a hero for some more time”. Later on in the interview, the Indian actor shared that he meets Rajinikanth every once in ten years. In the meeting, both legendary actors always discuss working together on a film.
Eventually, Akshay Kumar went ahead to play Pakshi Rajan’s role in 2.0 headlined by Rajinikanth. This film became a massive commercial success at the box office.
Coming back to Kamal Haasan, his film Indian 2 stars an ensemble star cast of actors Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kajal Aggarwal and others. This film will be released on the big screens in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Indian 2 will be followed by the release of the third instalment as well in 2025. Kamal Haasan and director S Shankar have revealed this at the Indian 2’s launch event in Mumbai. They disclosed that Indian 2 and 3 were shot simultaneously. According to the filmmaker, he had only one film (Indian 2) in his mind, but Indian 3 evolved as the former was being shot. According to the 60-year-old director, their initial idea was to do only one part. However, the director said that when they started filming and sat in the editing room, all the scenes were looking good. That’s when Shankar decided to direct two parts of the story.
Other projects
Talking about Kamal Haasan’s upcoming projects, he played the role of Supreme Yaskin in the film Kalki 2898 AD. Written and directed by Nag Ashwin, this film has received accolades from the viewers.
