Throughout their careers, actresses become victims of body shaming by social media users and even the media. As they are under the scrutiny of cameras most of the time, it gives trolls a reason to comment on their bodies. The most recent victim is actress Kaniha.
Kaniha from the superhit Sun TV show Ethirneechal, is not letting anyone hold her down for her looks. In an interview, the actress shared her opinions on those trying to make lewd remarks about her body. She was quoted as saying, “I have what the women in your house have.” She continued, “Pregnant women and lactating mothers have larger breasts. It is because of these hormonal changes that my breasts are also bigger.” She concluded by adding, “When I see people posting such vulgar things, I wonder what state of mind they are in.”
Currently, Kaniha is being seen in the role of Eshwari Gunasekaran in the hit Tamil show Ethirneechal. It is directed by V Thiruselvam and also stars Madhumitha H, Priyadarshini, Neelakandan and Haripriya Isai in important roles. It premiers on Sun TV and the OTT platform Sun NXT.
Kaniha, whose real name is Divya Venkatasubramaniam, made her debut in the film industry with the movie Five Star, released in 2002. It was directed by Susi Ganesan, and produced by Mani Ratnam, under his banner Madras Talkies. It also starred Prasanna, Krishna, Sandhya, Mangai and Karthik. The music in the film was given by Sriram Parasuram and Anuradha Sriram.
Kaniha was seen in the 2023 Tamil film Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir, which was directed by Venkata Krishna Roghanth. The cast of the film also included Vijay Sethupathi and Megha Akash in the lead, along with Magizh Thirumeni, Vivek, Kaniha, Mathura and others. S Essaki Durai produced the film under the banner of Chandaraa Arts.
