On April 30, 2020, the film industry lost one of the beloved Bollywood stars Rishi Kapoor. The actor was popular for his memorable performances, charming personality and outspoken nature. The Bobby star passed away after a two-year battle with cancer and his passing at the age of 67 left many heartbroken. On Kapoor’s fourth death anniversary, his family and friends paid tributes to the veteran star. Neetu Kapoor and daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni penned an emotional note, while Rakesh Roshan remembered his old friend with a touching Instagram post. Taking to his social media account, Roshan shared a throwback with Kapoor. Meanwhile, fans of the late star filled the comments section with emotional and positive messages.
For those not aware, Roshan and Kapoor worked in hit films like Jhoota Kahin Ka, Khel Khel Mein and Aap Ke Deewane. Roshan shared a black and white picture with Kapoor, showing them engrossed in deep conversation. The two stars looked charming in their younger days and the throwback picture left many nostalgic. Sharing the picture, the Koi Mil Gaya actor wrote, “Chintu you are always with us.”
A year after Rishi Kapoor’s death, Rakesh Roshan remembered his old friend during an interview with ETimes and said, “We got along very well because we both had a similar nature of being frank on the face. So yeah, we were very thick and met at the first opportunity. I used to really look forward to meeting him because he was a very open-hearted person. Jeetendra, Rishi and I used to catch up either at each other’s house or some restaurant.”
“Rishi and Jeetendra both were doing very well then as actors and I was not, but I never told them that they should try and get me a role in their film. Neither did they compel me to cast them when I started producing and directing films. I can never forget the outstation family holidays we took, both Hrithik and Ranbir were with us, they were kids then. I wish to see Hrithik and Ranbir together in one film,” he added.
Before his passing, Rishi Kapoor spent most of his time in New York, US where he underwent cancer treatment in September 2018. During the same year, Rakesh Roshan was also diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery. After successful treatment, his son and actor Hrithik Roshan confirmed that the veteran filmmaker was doing well and recovering.
