Daniel Radcliffe is producing the documentary of his Harry Potter stunt double, who was left paralysed after a tragic accident on the sets of Death Hallows Part 1. Titled David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, the coming-of-age story is helmed by director Dan Hartley. The official synopsis of the documentary shared in a press release introduces David as a prodigious teenage gymnast hailing from Essex, England. The stuntman was only eleven when he recruited to body double Daniel Radcliffe and what followed suit was an “inextricable bond” that the two built over a span of ten years. Tragedy struck when David Holmes suffered a debilitating spinal injury leaving him with a broken neck and a paralyzed body during an on-set accident.

The upcoming project details how the stuntman’s closest companions, family, and the Harry Potter lead rushed to his support at the moment of need. “It is David’s extraordinary spirit of resilience that becomes their greatest source of strength and inspiration,” stated the press release. The documentary is set to feature candid and personal footage shot on the sets of Harry Potter over a decade. From David’s behind-the-scenes contribution to Daniel Radcliffe’s intimate interview, the project “reflects universal themes of living with adversity, growing up, forging identities in an uncertain world, and the bonds that bind us together and lift us up.”

In a heartwarming Instagram post, David Holmes revealed he had been working on the documentary secretly for the past four years. He explained that the unfortunate accident did make his life challenging but also ended up changing his perspective. “Being a stuntman was my calling in life, and doubling Harry was the best job in the world. In January 2009, I had a stunt rehearsal accident that changed my life forever. This film tells the story of not just my achievements in front of the camera, but also the challenges I face every day, and my overall attitude to life after suffering a broken neck,” he wrote.

David Holmes opined he was able to get past the tragedy owing to the united love and support he received from people around him. Take a look at it here:
