Did You Know Emraan Hashmi And Not Aditya Roy Kapur Was The FIRST Choice For Aashiqui 2?
Emraan Hashmi shared in a recent interview that he was supposed to headline the blockbuster film Aashiqui 2.

Aashiqui 2, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, was released on April 26, 2013, and it created a stir like it’s predecessor. The film turned out to be a blockbuster. The audience showered a lot of love on the film. It acted as a turning point in both Shraddha and Aditya’s career, who were unable to deliver clean hits since their debut. The movie, made on a budget of 18 crore, collected 109 crore worldwide. Like the first film, its songs were also a huge hit. The music for the film was composed by Jeet Ganguly, Mithoon, and Ankit Tiwari. Most of the songs were sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. Aashiqui 2 was directed by Mohit Suri and was produced jointly by Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar under the banner of Vishesh Films and T-Series Films. While there are many trivia related to the movie, not many are aware that Emraan Hashmi and not Aditya Roy Kapur was the first choice for the leading man.

During an interaction with the entertainment portal PinkVilla, Emraan Hashmi shared, “Mohit approached me first for Aashiqui 2 and I was like this would work more with actors who are fairly new, who don’t have a roster of past movies or an image with the audience and there would be a sense of discovering a fresh pair. I don’t ever have regrets with films I didn’t do. They were never meant for me to begin with.”

Emraan Hashmi was last seen in Tiger 3, the latest addition to the YRF Spy Universe, that was released earlier last month. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film which has already crossed Rs 400 crore at the global box office, features Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif reprising their roles as Tiger and Zoya while Emraan Hashmi made waves as the antagonist Aatish Rehman.

Hashmi is now looking for a new chapter in his acting career, as he is soon going to make his Telugu debut with Pawan Kalyan starrer OG. A gangster drama, directed by Sahoo director Sujeeth, it will see the Murder actor playing a negative character.

In an exclusive conversation with News18, Hashmi says, “It’s an ambitious film and is mounted on a big scale. It’s a pan-India film and this is the audience who may have known me as an actor but have not necessarily seen my films. I also wanted to explore a larger audience and work in this unfamiliar territory and penetrate down South, something that I hadn’t done before.”

Without revealing too much about the character, the actor adds, “The character that I am playing and the world that Sujeeth has created for OG are very fascinating. I also feel fortunate working with Pawan Kalyan who has such an amazing screen presence.”
