South Korean actress Park Min-young will be seen in a new romance thriller titled Marry My Husband. She will be portraying the role of a terminally ill cancer patient named Kang Ji-Won. Recently, television network TVN released a string of pictures of Park Min-young on Instagram, featuring the actress’ remarkable transformation to fit into the character of a woman suffering from cancer. The first photographs of Park Min-young as Kang Ji-Won invariably sent the masses into a frenzy who are now eager to watch her on-screen in Marry My Husband. Scheduled to release on January 1 next year, the series also stars Song Ha-yoon, Lee Yi-kyung, and Na In-woo in important roles.

The pictures capture Park Min-young looking quite pale — presumably to highlight her chronic disease and personal struggles exhausting her. She can be seen wearing broad-framed spectacles and a woollen beanie presumably to indicate that she is left with no hair due to the illness. Dressed in what appears to be a hospital gown with a grey cardigan wrapped around her shoulders, Park Min-young sports a concerned expression as if someone or some situation is troubling her. The snapshots stand testament to the actress’ rigorous makeup transformation to breathe life into Kang Ji-Won’s character.

Social media users were enthralled by Park Min-young’s photos and reacted to them. “She’s perfect for this character. Looks almost exactly like the character in the webtoon,” pointed out one individual. “Park min young in Marry My Husband?? That is one of my favourite comic plots,” quipped another. Lauding her efforts and hard work Park Min-young, a third person commented, “My very professional Min-young who puts all her soul into her work.”

Marry My Husband is a screen adaption of a web novel or a webtoon of the same name written by Sung So-jak. It narrates the revenge story of cancer patient Kang Ji-Won who discovers that her best friend Jung Soo-min is having an affair with her husband Park Min-hwan. Although she gets killed by her husband, life gives Kang Ji-Won a second chance as she travels back 10 years into the past. This time, her motive is to seek revenge and teach Yoo Ji Hyeok — the department head of her company a good lesson.

Directed by Park Won-gook, every episode of Marry My Husband will be aired on Monday and Tuesday, starting from January 1.
