PM Modi Launches Maharashtra’s ‘Nari Shakti Doot’ App to Keep Women Beneficiaries Updated on Schemes
The application aims to provide information on various schemes floated by the government for women and make them aware of various government policies for their benefit

Strengthen his government’s ‘Nari Shakti Abhiyan’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched the Maharashtra Women and Child Development Department’s ‘Nari Shakti Doot’ mobile application during his one-day visit to the state.

The application aims to provide information on various schemes floated by the government for women and make them aware of various government policies for their benefit. It will also provide information on various women-centric projects and announcements related to women’s development. According to the state government, the app is part of the department’s new initiative to inform economically disadvantaged women about diverse development schemes.

The application is the brainchild of minister Aditi Tatkare, who, a few months ago, had asked her department to develop an application that can help women in the state benefit from government schemes and access all information related to such on a single platform.

Sources in the Department of Women & Child Development said the minister, in one of the review meetings, had surmised that women in the state have difficulty accessing information about schemes that the government floats for them. Subsequently, due to lack of participation, many schemes don’t have takers or the beneficiaries remain unaware of the eligibility criteria, she is learnt to have said.

The app reportedly goes beyond providing notifications and information from the department. It also provides information about schemes that have been designed for women by other departments of the state government. Officials said it will further facilitate online filling of forms.

The district public welfare offices will provide details about women-centric schemes and a dedicated dashboard has been developed for both mobile apps and web portals, officials said.

The app is right now available on Google Play and an iOS version will be launched soon.
