Scarlett Johansson On Black Widow's MCU Return: 'Would Be A Miracle'
Scarlett Johansson has addressed the rumours about Black Widow's possible return to upcoming MCU projects.

There is an interesting piece of news for all Marvel fans. Scarlett Johansson, who aced the role of Black Widow as part of the Avengers in MCU’s first three phases, has addressed the rumours about her character’s possible return for an upcoming project. So, could Black Widow make a comeback to MCU? Well, the former Marvel star doesn’t think so.

In a recent interview with Today, Scarlett was asked whether or not Black Widow will return for another Avengers movie. The actress also responded to speculations over the alleged return of other Avengers including Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man and Thor to the Marvel Studios. Although other members are active within the universe, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff are either dead or retired.

Speaking at the Today show on Monday, Scarlett Johansson said, “I think it was the end. She passed.” Black Widow’s end came during Avengers: Endgame when she sacrificed herself instead of Clint Barton/Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner) to acquire the Soul Stone from Thanos.

“It would be a miracle. It would be a real Marvel miracle. It would be a marvel. But who knows?” the actress further said. The 38-year-old actress was there at the show to promote her skincare line, The Outset.

Scarlett’s response came a few weeks after a Variety report talked delved into the Marvel film’s future. Downplaying her superhero character’s possible resurrection, the star hinted that she might return in a different way – in a ‘Zombie film’.

“Is it like, a vampire version of the character? ‘Cause I’m here for that. Or like a zombie version, maybe?” she noted when asked if she had been approached to reprise her role by Marvel Studios.

Scarlett Johansson began her journey as Black Widow in 2010 film, Iron Man 2. She continued to reprise her role in many follow-up movies such as The Avengers (2012) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014).

Scarlett’s Black Widow character died in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, however, she made a comeback in 2021’s Black Widow standalone movie. The storyline in this flick continued after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016).
