Shah Rukh Khan has been riding high on the success of his recently released film Dunki. The emotional drama co-starring Taapsee Pannu was loved by everyone. And now there is a report coming in that Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his next with none other than iconic director Vishal Bhardwaj. Hindustan Times has claimed that the talks are underway.
According to Hindustan Times, the buzz is that Shah Rukh Khan is set to sign on for a Vishal Bhardwaj film as his next venture. Their sources reveal that the upcoming project is expected to be a quintessential Vishal Bhardwaj film, rich with thrills and nuanced storytelling – a departure from King Khan’s conventional cinematic image. Despite the marked differences in their respective cinematic worlds, Khan is reportedly excited about the prospect, embracing the opportunity to explore something new. The actor is said to have been drawn to the script, and discussions between him and Bhardwaj are currently underway.
Well, this is not the first time Vishal Bhardwaj wanted to cast Shah Rukh Khan in his film. Recently talking to mid-day, Bhardwaj had shared insights into the project that didn’t materialize, citing differences between the two. Vishal Bhardwaj disclosed that he and Shah Rukh Khan were in talks to collaborate on a film adaptation of the novel 2 States. The renowned filmmaker said, “We had differences over the setting of it. I wanted to set it not in a college but in a bank like ICICI. So, that’s where we were different. Shah Rukh wanted it in a different setting.” To note, the film was later made with Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles and was directed by Abhishek Varman.
The director also mentioned that both he and SRK are aware in their hearts that they want to work together. They have had discussions after Jawan, and every year, whenever they meet at events like his birthday or public functions, the desire to collaborate resurfaces. Bhardwaj shared, “He always says, and I also feel, that we have to do a film together.”
On the work front, Vishal’s two projects were released on OTT platforms: Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley and the film Khufiya.
