Vikrant Massey, fresh off the success of his recent film 12th Fail, has unveiled his next project. Titled ‘The Sabarmati Report’, the film will explore the tragic burning of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra, Gujarat, 22 years ago on February 22, 2002. The actor announced the film with a short video where he portrays journalist Shraban Kumar, who firmly claims that it was not an accident.
Sharing a clip, he captioned the post “Paying homage to the 59 innocent people who lost their lives in the Godhra train burning incident 22 years ago, today. Presenting ‘The Sabarmati Report’, in cinemas on 3rd May, 2024. (sic)” Check out the post here:
The producers of The Sabarmati Report officially announced the film on January 15. This thriller is inspired by the real-life event of the 2002 Sabarmati Express fire, which deeply impacted the entire nation. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the film features Vikrant Massey, who is basking in the success of 12th Fail, in the lead. Joining him on screen for the first time is Raashi Khanna, renowned for her work in Farzi, marking her Hindi film debut. The Sabarmati Report is all set to hit theaters on May 3, 2024. Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna and actor Riddi Dogra, who was last seen in Jawan, will star in the lead roles of the film. Directed by Ranjan Chandel, it is co-produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan.
For those unaware, on February 27, 2002, a carriage of the Sabarmati Express leaving from Godhra station in Gujarat was set ablaze. The Sabarmati Report is based on this tragic incident.
Vikrant Massey was last seen in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail that recieved both critical acclaim and did well at the box office.
