Vikram Kochhar Reveals How His Slap Scene In Dunki Left Shah Rukh Khan In Splits
Since its release on December 21, Dunki has earned over Rs 300 crore at the box office.

Actor Vikram Kochhar recently revealed in an interview that actor Shah Rukh Khan broke into laughter when he watched Kochhar’s slap scene on the sets of Dunki. Vikram plays the role of Balindar “Buggu” Lakhanpal in the comedy-drama. He recently spoke to VS Talks and revealed that he was willing to take multiple re-takes of a scene that involved his co-star Sapna Sand, who played his mother, slapping him hard. Vikram mentioned that when he was first slapped by Sapna he noticed Shah Rukh Khan breaking into laughter. He was encouraged by the superstar’s reaction because that assured him that the scene was turning out to be funny.

Recalling this moment, Vikram said, “Behind the camera, Shah Rukh sir was standing, and he couldn’t control his laughter. On that silent set, the sound of the slap was so loud, and there Shah Rukh sir is doing (enacts laughter). And he is not in front of the camera, but standing behind it and laughing.”

Vikram also revealed that Sapna Sand hesitated to slap him again but he insisted that they perfect the scene. “Ek baar wo maar ke conscious ho gayi, lekin pade usne baad 2-3 aur bhi. Maine kaha koi baat nahi badiya hai. Yaha par agar Shah Rukh sir hass sakte hai to audience bhi hasegi. Let’s do it. (She got conscious after slapping me once, but I still got slapped 2-3 times after that. I said it’s fine to do the retakes. If Shah Rukh sir can laugh at this scene, then the audience will also laugh), ” Vikram Kochhar added.

Dunki is a comedy-drama film directed and edited by Rajkumar Hirani. The multi-starrer film has Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Anil Grover, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal (in a special appearance), and others. Since its release on December 21, Dunki has earned over 300 crore at the box office.

In another interview with Bollywood Now, Vikram shared his thoughts on the success of action films like Animal. The National School of Drama Graduate theorised, “A friend of mine was telling me recently that a lot of people are craving power, but they don’t know how to execute it. When they see it on the big screen, their dreams are fulfilled. On the other hand, films have a responsibility towards the audience also.” He added, “If the masses are irrational that doesn’t mean they should be given what they want. If they want to see someone’s throat being slit and you show it to them, then you’re just amplifying certain things that you shouldn’t.”
