AAJ KA PANCHANG, NOVEMBER 1, 2023: The Chaturthi Tithi and Panchami Tithi of the Krishna Paksha will be observed on Wednesday, November 1, according to Drik Panchang. On this day, devotees will observe two religious festivals namely, Karwa Chauth and Vakratunda Sankashti Chaturthi. The fasting of Karwa Chauth occurs during Krishna Paksha Chaturthi in the Hindu month of Kartik. According to the Amanta calendar followed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Southern India, it aligns with the Ashwin month. Despite the variation in the name of the month, Karwa Chauth is universally observed on the same day across all states.

This festival falls on the same day as Sankashti Chaturthi, a fasting day dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Married women partake in the rituals of Karwa Chauth, fasting for the well-being and longevity of their husbands. They pay homage to Lord Shiva and his divine family, which includes Lord Ganesha, and conclude their fast only after sighting the moon and performing the customary rituals. The observance of Karwa Chauth involves stringent fasting, refraining from consuming any food or water after sunrise until the moon appears at night.
