As India lost a BSF jawan, with additional injuries to civilians, in a recent cross-border firing incident, agencies, supported by substantial information and corroborating evidence, suggest that Pakistan is attempting to conceal its casualties.
The suspected casualties resulted from a retaliatory response to unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers.
A BSF jawan died in a sniper attack in the unprovoked cross-border firing incident by Pakistan Rangers on the intervening night of November 8-9 in Ramgarh area, the BSF said in a statement. “The BSF has also retaliated to unprovoked firing and given a befitting reply to Pakistan Rangers,” it stated.
Evidence gathered by the Indian agencies indicate that the initial cross-border firing may have triggered further casualties on the Pakistani side.
Surveillance cameras along the border captured a footage revealing the mobilisation of ambulances and emergency medical facilities in the aftermath of the firing incidents, strongly indicating potential casualties in Pakistan. The cameras have documented ambulances rushing to the Pakistani side after 10 minutes of India’s retaliation in response to the unprovoked firing.
Adding a layer of complexity to the situation, the BSF troops deployed at the border reportedly heard prayers from a nearby mosque in the days following the incidents where they also took names of those who died in the retaliatory firing. A top government official said since Pakistan hide casualties as seen in the past as well, the information gathered by the Indian agencies hint towards deaths, which may get further corroborated.
Central agencies have compiled an initial report encompassing these findings, poised for dissemination to all concerned ministries. Additionally, sources said the BSF has promptly informed relevant departments about these developments, stressing the importance of addressing the complexities arising from the incidents.
