The Narendra Modi government’s commitment towards inclusive development is reflected in a multitude of initiatives and programmes across various sectors, empowering diverse communities and fostering a more equitable society. On November 12, 2023, in the heart of Telangana, Prime Minister Modi joined the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) rally in Secunderabad and announced the formation of a committee to address the Madiga community’s sub-categorisation of SC’s demand.
PM Modi underscored the government’s relationship with the Madiga community, stating that the government had stood with them in every struggle for the past three decades.
He highlighted his commitment to prioritising the needs of the deprived and emphasised the government’s principle of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas”.
Since 2013, PM Modi has closely interacted with MRPS founder Manda Krishna Madiga.
The MRPS was established in July 1994 in Edumudi village, Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, under the leadership of Manda Krishna Madiga and others, with the aim of implementing internal reservations.
PM Modi said that the BJP has stood with the Madiga community in every struggle for the last three decades.
“We are committed to ending this injustice at the earliest… It is our promise that we will soon constitute a committee that will adopt all possible ways of empowering you. The BJP made the laws about the atrocities on SCs and STs stricter. We ensured that the poor got a bank account, a gas connection, toilets, homes, etc. In all these schemes, the people from SC, ST and OBC were given the most benefit,” he added.
The PM said that political parties and leaders had made promises to Madigas and betrayed them. “I am apologising for their sins,” he said.
