Apart from preparing for the Lok Sabha elections ahead, the Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started outreach programmes ahead of the Ram temple inauguration in Ayodhya.
The cadre has started distribution of Akshintalu (sacred mix of rice and turmeric) in every district of the state, asking people to visit the temple after Pran Pratishtha ceremony on January 22. The party believes that the Ayodhya sentiment will be crucial for them in winning Lok Sabha seats in the state.
State vice-president of BJP, NVSS Prabhakar, said: “Akshintalu kalashams were sent to all district headquarters in the country. They were received at temple premises and basthi committees were formed to distribute them. Those Akshintalu were mixed with other grains and more kalashas were filled. They will be placed in village temples and special puja will be performed. After that, the committees are distributing the rice in every house.”
“A similar exercise was done during the Ram Shilan puja in which bricks were sent to Ayodhya from every village in India. The PM has appealed to citizens to light Ramajyothi (earthen lamps) in their houses for overall development of the universe on January 22. We had organised Ram Japam too. The Telangana unit received the kalasham a week ago. We will continue this outreach programme till January 22,” Prabhakar added.
The Akshintalu distribution programme was flagged off by BJP MP and president of the party’s OBC Morcha K Laxman from the Hanuman Temple at Chikkadpally in Hyderabad. He also took part in door-to-door distribution of the rice in Musheerabad constituency and requested people to visit Ram Lalla once the Pran Pratishtha was done.
In 2019, the BJP won four Lok Sabha seats out of 17 in the state. In the recently concluded Assembly elections, the party managed to increase its tally from one to eight. This has given impetus to the party to increase its tally in Lok Sabha too.
