After the Modi government took over in May 2014, it decided to make some amendments in the Bill which have become a bone of contention.

Khandwa: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday accused opposition of not being serious about bringing in reforms. The allegations were made over the controversial Land Acquisition Bill.

"I have told the Rajya Sabha members that if they tell me a single point in the Land Acquisition Bill that is anti-farmer, I am ready to change it but they do not point out any such issue. They only have to disrupt the house," Modi said.

"Its true we don't have the numbers in Rajya Sabha so we cannot pass some laws, so I request you help me. You have majority in Rajya Sabha, but you shouldn't come in the way of development of nation because of that," he added.

The opposition parties are against the Bill accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government of bulldozing its way through in Parliament.
