New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday hit back at Trinamool Congress leaders for using offensive language against the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister, and called West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a "chit fund minister".
Describing the recent spate of "unparliamentary utterances" by TMC MP Derek O'Brien against the BJP top brass as an "expression of TMC's anger over Saradha and Burdwan blast probes", BJP spokesperson and in-charge of party affairs in West Bengal Siddharth Nath Singh said "obstruction is not a substitute of TMC's conspiracy in the Saradha scam".
The BJP also said there was a virtual competition going on between the Trinamool Congress chief and her leaders in use of "intemperate" language against the BJP leadership.
"Certainly the Chief Minister cannot be pushed down from the winners slot but its Rajya Sabha member and spokesperson Derek O'Brien certainly beats his colleagues in the intemperate language competition," Singh said.
"In recent past, O'Brien has shown that he can use insulting language against the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. On both the counts words are not enough to condemn his speech.
"But one thing is clear that the way the Saradha chit fund scam and the Burdhwan blast investigations are proceeding, TMC's entire leadership is shaken and their anger is an expression of their linguistic skills," Singh said.
Reacting to O'Brien's 'visa' remarks against the Prime Minister, Singh asked, "BJP would like to know from Derek O'Brien, what made the Chief Minister of West Bengal to give an unofficial visa to the Bangladeshi jihadis and spread their terror activities in Bengal? Also why her government and party supports invisible visa to Bangladeshi infiltrators? He (O'Brien) should also explain why the CM of West Bengal is know being popularly called as the chit fund Minister?"
In his quest to be the king of intemperate vocabulary, O'Brien is forgetting that obstruction is not a substitute of TMC's conspiracy in the Sharada scam, Singh said.
