The stalemate in the Parliament was delaying the passage of important bills, Rajiv Shukla said.

Mumbai: BJP was stalling Parliament on coal allocation issue because it was afraid that a debate would expose the roles of its chief ministers, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla claimed on Friday.

"BJP is adamant on not letting the Parliament function," Shukla told reporters here after attending a prayer meeting for the late Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Friday.

"BJP knows that if it allows Parliament to function, the role of its four Chief Ministers in the coal allocation issue would be exposed," he said.

The stalemate in the Parliament was delaying the passage of important bills pertaining to land reforms, money laundering, etc, Shukla said.

People wanted these bills passed, he added.
