BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha says Nitish Kumar is PM material
"There is no doubt that Nitish Kumar is a PM material. He is definitely capable of becoming the Prime Minister," Shatrughan Sinha said.

Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shatrughan Sinha is courting controversy again. After slamming Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi last week, he has now said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is an ideal Prime Ministerial candidate.

"There is no doubt that Nitish Kumar is a PM material. But this is the parties', allies' and the people's decision. If they desire, Nitish can definitely become the PM. If he doesn't, it's not that Nitish Kumar is not capable. He is definitely capable of becoming the Prime Minister," Sinha said in Patna on Tuesday

This came even as Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United parted ways with the BJP over Modi's elevation in the party. When asked about this statement, BJP President Rajnath Singh refused to comment saying he hasn't heard any statement yet.

Sinha had last week said that even though Modi has emerged quite popular but senior leader LK Advani cannot be ignored. He said, "Modi might have emerged quite popular, especially after his emphatic win in Gujarat, but LK Advani was not only the senior most and biggest leader of the party but of the country and he could not be ignored."

He also said that the party needs the blessings of all the senior leaders including Advani to grow. "To make the BJP stronger, senior leaders like Advaniji, Murli Manohar Joshi, Yashwant Sinha, Jaswant Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley need to bless us. If we have their blessings only then can the party grow," he said.

He criticised the constitution of several committees in the party for the next Lok Sabha elections.
