Congress' Kanhaiya Kumar Accuses BJP Worker Linked To Manoj Tiwari Of Attack During Campaign; BJP Denies Claims
Kumar suggested that Tiwari's apprehension about losing the seat he has secured in two consecutive elections has motivated him to resort to such tactics

Kanhaiya Kumar, the Congress candidate from North East Delhi, alleged that the individual who attacked him during his campaign on Friday was a BJP worker.

Kumar alleged that the assailant had been seen sharing the stage with MP Manoj Tiwari, his rival and two-time BJP MP from the same constituency. However, the Delhi unit of BJP denied this accusation.

At a press briefing on Saturday, the Congress candidate from Northeast Delhi asserted, “BJP is trying to disrupt my campaign, but remember this, I have the blood of freedom fighters running in my veins and the campaign will go on.”

“I appeal to people to not get distracted by all this but to keep the real issues in this election in their minds,” Kumar added.

Kumar suggested that Tiwari’s apprehension about losing the seat he has secured in two consecutive elections has motivated him to resort to such tactics, The Times of India reported.

The Congress leader urged the constituency’s voters to respond fittingly to what he referred to as the “dictatorship and goondagardi of BJP” on the sixth phase of the election day on May 25.

“Manoj Tiwari is scared. The people are not allowing him to enter their lanes because he has no work to show… The village that he adopted in 2014 has several problems, like lack of power supply and waterlogging. People no longer listen to him. That is why he had planned this cowardly attack on me,” Kumar stated.

On Friday, Kumar was allegedly attacked by two men — one slapped him, and another hurled black ink — just as he was leaving the Aam Aadmi Party’s New Usmanpur office in Northeast Delhi after a meeting with local Councillor Chhaya Sharma.

The Congress had denounced the assault and accused the BJP of “resorting to violence” and “attacking” its North East Delhi candidate, asserting that this revealed the anxiety of everyone in the saffron party “in the face of a historic defeat” in the Lok Sabha elections.
