New Delhi: The Congress party on Wednesday dared the Narendra Modi government to reveal the names of all the black money account holders. The Congress also said that it was ready for a probe against it on the issue.
Reacting to reports about the central government's decision to disclose certain names to the Supreme Court in an affidavit on October 28, Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said, "We urge the BJP to come out with the full list. Truth lies in full disclosure."
Earlier, the government had not disclosed names in the apex court - saying that it would compromise double taxation agreements with other nations.
Maken also lashed out at the Modi government for targeting the Congress party. He said, "The Congress party is above any individual. We are ready for any kind of probe. Do not threaten or even try to threaten the Congress party."
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley recently took potshots at the Congress saying that it would embarrass itself if the complete list of people having black money stashed in foreign banks is disclosed.
Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi also expressed displeasure, saying, "Is it clear or not clear who wants to avoid disclosing the names?" Manu further demanded to know as to why the BJP misled the nation during their electoral campaign. "This will qualify as a cheating offence", said Singhvi.
