New Delhi: In the run up to general elections, former Army chief General VK Singh is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday.
Singh, who was a vociferous member of veteran social activist Anna Hazare's anti-corruption crusade will also contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
He will march from Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate to BJP headquarters in Delhi where he will be formally joining the party.
Over a 100 former Army and Air Force officers are expected to be a part of VK Singh's march.
The BJP has seen several former bureaucrats, including former Home Secretary RK Singh and former diplomat Hardeep Puri, coming into its fold in the past few weeks.
Singh believes that one has to be in politics to work for the society. He says, "I had already said that after retirement I want work for the society. You can only deliver only if you are part of the politics. I would give credit to Swamy Ji who inspired me."
"People have done immature things against me I don't want comment on it. A chief has to resign because nothing which he wanted to do did out of compulsion I have met large number of leaders from BJP, they are very sensitive to this issue," adds Singh.
VK Singh has off lately been seen in BJP's poll campaigns.
