Gadkari has asked Kejriwal to apologise within three days for calling him 'corrupt'.

New Delhi: Former Bharatiya Janata Party chief Nitin Gadkari on Friday sent a legal defamation notice to Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal for making baseless allegations.

Earlier in the day, Gadkari hit back strongly at Kejriwal for calling him 'corrupt'and asked him to apologise within three days. Gadkari also warned Kejriwal that if he didn't apologise then he will sue him.

Keeping an eye on the upcoming general selections, the Delhi Chief Minister had named India's "corrupt politicians" who, he said, should be defeated in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier in 2012, one of the whistleblowers of the Maharashtra irrigation scam, Anjali Damania who is now a member of the AAP had named Gadkari for trying to suppress the matter. She had been instrumental in blowing the lid off the Rs 72,000 crore scam.

Among the other top leaders who were mentioned by Kejriwal in his list were Rahul Gandhi, Kapil Sibal, A Raja, Mayawati, Mulayam Singh, P Chidambaram and Suresh Kalmadi.
