New Delhi: Four regional parties, RLD, NCP, JD(U) and Samajwadi Party, have made their mark in Delhi municipal polls by opening their accounts though BSP suffered a setback as its tally went down.

The list of successful independent candidates was big as 24 of them won as against 2007's figure of 16.

The independents, who have won 14 seats in South Corporation, will play an important role as BJP needs 9 members to rule the body as it has not secured majority on its own.

RLD and NCP were the biggest gainers each winning five wards while SP won two and JD(U), national ally of BJP, in one.

INLD, which had won two seats five years ago, improved its tally to three while LJP came down to one from 2007's figure of three.

BSP lost two seats this time from the previous figure of 17.
