Hubli: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa stated that the government stood by the preliminary report submitted by Lokayukta Santosh Hegde on illegal mining in Karnataka and has even initiated some action following submission of the report.
Yeddyurappa addressed reporters on Saturday that he had always opposed the looting of the state's rich mineral reserves and he had imposed ban on not only iron ore export but also its transportation.
When a lot of hue and cry was made on illegal mining, the government furnished all records to the Supreme Court appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC), formed to investigate illegal mining in the state.
The government will initiate stern action against those involved in illegal mining in the state, the chief minister affirmed.
