Bangalore: The Lokayukta court on Thursday ordered issue of summons to former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, former minister and Congress leader DK Shivakumar and four others in cases relating to alleged illegal denotification of land and illegalities in housing cooperative societies.
Judge NK Sudhindra Rao ordered issue of summons on similar complaints filed by social activist TJ Abraham and another person and adjourned the matter to August 2.
The four others named in the complaints included three retired officials and the builder.
The court observed that while the investigation in illegal denotification of land has been completed, the probe into illegalities in housing cooperatives will continue.
The accused have been charged under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1958, IPC and Karnataka Restriction of Transfer of Land Act 1991.
Abraham had yesterday filed a memo stating that the Lokayukta police who filed the first charge sheet on June 21, 2012, had failed to abide by the order passed by the Lokayukta court on March 7 as they had not investigated the allegations against Shivakumar.
A number of public servants and private individuals and housing cooperative societies had colluded with him in committing illegalities in housing cooperative societies, causing a huge loss to the state exchequer, he alleged.
Meanwhile, Shivakumar, who had sought anticipatory bail in the case in the High Court was granted anticipatory bail for four days earlier in the day, with the direction that he must file a similar application before the Lokayukta court since the case was filed there.
Justice Subhash B Adi directed Shivakumar to furnish a personal bond or Rs 2 lakh and surety of the same amount.
