New Delhi: After a stinging defeat in the General Elections 2009, the National Democratic Alliance has much to introspect into. However , a meeting slated for Monday was called off, minutes after the NDA ally Nitish Kumar said he was not intimated.
The BJP by itself has some ‘aatmachintan’ (introspection) to do.
The party's leaders met at Opposition leader L K Advani's residence earlier in the day to discuss the defeat.
The big question remains as to who will take over as the leader of the opposition from L K Advani. Potential candidates include Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Murli Manohar Joshi.
Also seeking cabinet berths is the DMK. Party chief M Karunanidhi will meet Sonia Gandhi to discuss the cabinet posts.
A key constituent of UPA, the DMK is asking the Centre to put more pressure on the Sri Lankan government to find a permanent solution to the Tamil issue.
The party executive committee passed a resolution saying the Government should prevail upon Sri Lanka to protect the rights of the Tamils and take measures for their peaceful existence.
It also asked the Centre to speed up the Sethusamudram project.
The DMK is the second biggest coalition partner of the Congress at the Centre after Mamata's Trinamool Congress.
RLD President Ajit Singh is expected to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi during the day.
Sources tell CNN IBN the JDS's HD Kumaraswamy is also trying to meet Sonia Gandhi but has been unsuccessful so far.
DMK Excecutive committee meeting to take place at 10 am
TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee is expected to meet her Party MPs at about 3.30 pm.
Meanwhile, BJP general Secretaries and Chief Ministers to gather at L K Advani's residence at around 11 am
CPI-M politburo to meet in Delhi today at 10am for an introspection of the causes for their poll debacle, especially in their bastions of Bengal and Kerala.
