The driver of a Karnataka bureaucrat has allegedly committed suicide after accusing the officer and mining Baron Gali Janardhana Reddy of harassing him over laundered black money.
Ramesh Gowda, who worked as a driver for special land acquisition officer Bheema Naik in Bengaluru, committed suicide on Tuesday by consuming poison, sources told CNN-News18.
Janardhana Reddy is facing trial in more than 13 cases related to illegal iron ore mining, being investigated by the CBI and Lokayukta SIT.

OBULAPURAM MINING COMPANY (OMC) CASE
Indulging in illegal mining by his firms, including Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC). The OMC is accused of tweaking mining lease boundary markings and indulging in illegal mining in the Ballari Reserve Forest area.
ASSOCIATED MINING COMPANY CASE
Alleged forced takeover of Associated Mining Company and using the same to legitimize ore that he used to allegedly steal from the leasehold area of the Dalmia mines in Hospet.
BELEKERI PORT ILLEGAL IRON ORE EXPORT SCAM
Reddy was named as accused No. 1 by the CBI in the case and is accused of illegally exporting of iron through Belekeri ore by SB Logistics.
ANANTHAPUR MINING CORPORATION CASE
Accused of illegally exporting of 3 lakh metric tonnes of iron ore between 2004 and 2006. The ore was allegedly smuggled from the defunct lease area of a firm called Black Gold Iron Ore Mines and Minerals by Reddy’s firm Ananthapur Mining Corporation.
CASH FOR BAIL DEAL
Is accused of conspiring to get bail by bribing the judge.
