Miscommunication with WB government removed: GJM
Blaming a section of people in the hills and some opposition political parties for spreading canards, GJM leader said the recent visit of CM foiled the bid.

Kolkata: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha on Friday said the recent visit of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to Darjeeling has removed the "miscommunication" between the West Bengal government and the party. GJM leader Harka Bahadur Chhetri said, "There was a miscommunication with the the state...the problem is over now with her (Mamata) recent visit to the Darjeeling hills for development work for the people there."

Blaming a section of the people in the hills and some opposition political parties for spreading canards, he said the recent visit of the CM foiled the bid. "We have been able to remove all hatred and animosity between the people of hills and plains," he said. Chhetri said GNLF recently clashed with GJM near Mirik to vitiate relations with the state government but failed to achieve their target.

Describing Banerjee as the 'Best Chief Minister', Chettri told reporters, "We have never seen any CM visiting the hills so many times within a short span and interacting closely with the people and inquiring about their problems directly." Chhetri said in comparison, former chief minister Jyoti Basu, who ruled for a major period during the Left Front regime had visited Darjeeling only three times.

Asked if GJM was withdrawing the demand for statehood, Chhetri replied, "Our main target is now to implement the GTA successfully with the help of the state government. Already 33 departments have been transferred to GTA fully and 26 departments partially. "As of now there is positive indication. If this process fails people in the hills will take a decision."
