No decision to raise LPG, diesel prices: Pranab
Pranab said that the government of India has no say in the price of crude oil.

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said that there was no decision to raise LPG, diesel and Kerosene Prices.

He said that the government of India has no say in the price of crude oil.

"India requires more than 100 million tonnes of oil every year. 75 percent of crude is imported. During NDA regime the maximum price was 24-36 dollars per barrel, which are now 113 per barrel. There is 5-6 times increase so far," he said.

He criticised NDA regime by saying, "Why is the opposition alleging? It's in during NDA times that oil marketing became decontrolled."

On hike of key rates by RBI, he said, "The RBI has raised rates to control inflation, which is at unacceptable levels and must be contained. RBI is taking monetary policy steps to contain Inflation. RBI policy is formulated in consultation with government.
