Lucknow: The first budget of Yogi Adityanath led BJP government was presented on Tuesday at the Vidhan Sabha by the Finance Minister of UP, Rajesh Agarwal. The budget is worth Rs 3.84 lakh crore with schemes amounting to Rs 55,781 crore alone. Many announcements were made for the development of the state but opposition has opened fire as there was no mention of free laptops to the students as promised by the BJP in the Sankalp Patra before elections. BJP President Amit Shah had announced free data along with free laptops for the students of Uttar Pradesh.
Taking a potshot at the government, Congress MLA from Raebareli, Aditi Singh spoke to News18 and said, "Just like the Rs 15 lakh promised in every account, the laptop and free data also seem to be a jumla from BJP. There is no provision in the budget on the issue of laptops and no roadmap has been suggested in the budget for employment generation too."
Putting allegations of false promises on BJP Chief Amit Shah and PM Modi, Samajwadi Party MLC, Sunil Singh Sajan said, "The budget has nothing for the youth of the state, it is a big let down by the state government. The BJP even promised loan waiver for all farmers but later put in conditionalities. Similarly, they are misguiding the youth of the state and have not even touched the free laptop scheme, forget about the data which Amit Shah had promised. Also, they have tried to copy the budget of SP National President Akhilesh Yadav in many ways."
National Lok Dal National Secretary General, Jayant Chaudhary, reacting to the budget, said, "The budget is completely deceitful that there is nothing for the farmers; also Purvanchal and Bundelkhand regions have been ignored. Farmers, labourers and women had a lot of expectations from the budget but the public amenities in the budget have been overlooked."
Speaking to News18 on the first budget of Yogi Government, BJP Spokesperson, Shalabh Mani Tripathi, said, "The budget presented under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is historic and has taken special care of the poor, farmers and women. The government has fulfilled almost all its promises published in the Sankalp Patr and the loan waiver of the farmers is a historic decision in itself. This is just the first budget, I am sure the issue of free laptops and data will also be addressed soon."
The previous Akhilesh Yadav Government had allocated Rs 100 crore for free laptops to the meritorious candidates who cleared intermediate and high school examinations. One percent of allocated funds was fixed for administrative expenditure. It was Amit Shah who had announced free laptops in the Lok Sankalp Patra 2017.
