New Delhi: Congress MP and party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has caused a stir with his comments on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi being like Mao Zedong. Rahul. who is on a three-city trip to the state, compared Modi to Mao when speaking about development in the state.
"Mao also developed China but he caused destruction to the country, too," said Rahul when asked to comment on the development work carried out by Modi in Gujarat.
He said that although he would not deny the Gujarat Chief Minister his share of credit for development, he had "caused some issues" for the country, too, in a veiled reference to the Gujarat riots of 2002.
